Its February, can you believe it?! You know what that means,
❤ Valentine’s Day! ❤
The holiday where you express your love for your significant other by showering them with roses and chocolates. All of that is wonderful but let’s be honest, the best part of this holiday whether you are single or in a relationship is the SWEETS.
I love Valentine’s Day because there are so many cute dessert recipes, crafts, and decorations. If you have read any of my past posts, you know that I absolutely love sweets of any kind. Cookies, cake, brownies, pies… the list goes on and on. This girl does not discriminate. Naturally, I wanted to make a cute treat for the holiday and couldn’t resist these adorable Mini Heart Cherry Pies. Ben loves cherry pie and I loved this festive twist on the traditional pie recipe.
These are great because you can grab them on the go, or sit down and enjoy them with a cup of tea. They are packed with gooey cherry goodness and topped with a decadent vanilla glaze. The perfect sweet for your sweet this Valentine’s Day.
First start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F.
Bring your pie crust to room temperature and roll out onto a flat surface. I used store-bought crust, because let’s be honest it’s so much easier! But if you prefer to make your own, knock yourself out.
I recommend using a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your hearts. I didn’t have one so I made a stencil and hand cut the shape instead.
You should end up with about 8-10 pies total.
Place hearts onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Make an egg wash consisting of: 1 egg, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
Brush the edges of the hearts with the egg wash.
Spoon a small amount of your cherry pie filling into the center of each. I used store-bought but you can also make your own.
Place the tops on each and using a fork, seal the edges. Cut an X in the top of each one. Brush the edges with your egg wash.
Place in the oven to bake for 14-16 minutes, or until the crust is browned. When they are finished, allow to cool.
While you are waiting for them to cool, assemble your ingredients to make the vanilla glaze: 1/2 cup of confectioners sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Brush each one with the vanilla glaze. Allow 10 minutes to harden.
There you have it! The perfect sweet for your sweet this Valentine’s Day.
Enjoy and Happy Valentine’s Day!
