5 Must Haves For Your Kitchen

It’s no secret that cooking is one of my favorite things to do. In my free time, you will most likely find me in our kitchen whipping up a family favorite recipe. This is a talent that has been passed down to me by my mom. I grew up sitting in the kitchen of my childhood home, watching my mom make our favorite meals. Eventually, as I got older I started to join in with her. I know I have said this before, but my mom is a phenomenal cook and she has taught me everything I know. As I have become more engrossed in the world of cooking and baking, I have found a love for kitchen tools and cookware. I’m so excited to share with you My Top 5 kitchen favorites that I honestly could not live without.

#1 : Le Creuset Dutch Oven

My two favorite words when it comes to cookware, Le Creuset. Between the variety of beautiful colors and different style pots and pans, I was in love at first sight. If you have never used Le Creuset before, you are probably wondering what all the fuss is about. Well I am here to tell you that these enameled pots are worth the investment. Le Creuset have been made in France since 1925. These pots last forever and are super easy to maintain. I’m obsessed with my dutch oven and use it for everything from making soup, pasta sauce, stews, sautéing, and boiling noodles. It heats up quickly and evenly which allows your food to cook without burning. Williams Sonoma and Macy’s have great selections to choose from. Watch for their yearly sales, that is the best time to snag these for a discounted price. Another great place to purchase these at a great price is, Home Goods. I found my dutch oven there for half off the original price. Talk about SCORE!

#2 KitchenAid Blender

If my house was burning to the ground, this would be an item I would run back in to get. This KitchenAid Blender is the first thing I see in the morning, besides my cup of coffee. It blends up my favorite morning ritual and breakfast. It’s true when they say, “You get what you pay for”, when it comes to blenders. I have gone through a handful of blenders in the last few years because I didn’t want to spend a fortune on one. This KitchenAid is hands down the best blender I have owned. I have had it for about 7 months now, which is a personal record. It perfectly blends my favorite green smoothie ingredients every morning.

#3 All-Clad Stainless Steel Cookware

When looking at cookware sets, it was very important to us to purchase a set that would last us a long time. We love to cook together and spend a lot of time in our kitchen. Cooking with quality pans makes a huge difference. This All-Clad Stainless Steel 7-Piece Cookware Set is incredible. Like the Le Creuset, they distribute heat more evenly which allows more control in cooking. In my opinion no other stainless steel cookware can compare to these. An added bonus, these are made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty.

#4 KitchenAid Stand Mixer

This is the newest addition to my kitchen appliance collection. My mom had given me her old KitchenAid Stand Up Mixer and it worked great for years. About a month ago, I was making cookies and the motor decided to only function in hyper speed. This meant there was flour and sugar everywhere in my kitchen as well as all over me. I decided that it was time to retire the mixer, which left me without one of my most used appliances. Lucky for me, Santa had already planned on gifting me one for Christmas. To my surprise on Christmas morning I opened this beautiful ruby-red mixer! This is a must have for anyone who loves to cook and bake. It makes your life so much easier by mixing all the ingredients without the hassle of having to do it by hand. The great thing about this machine is its versatility. Not only can it be used for mixing dough, but it can also be used to make homemade whip cream and mashed potatoes. KitchenAid has a variety of great accessories for purchase as well. I personally love the spiralizer to make my favorite alternative for spaghetti noodles, zoodles.

#5 All-Clad Slow Cooker

If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m a huge fan of All-Clad. Not only do they dominate the stainless steel cookware game, they also make incredible slow cookers. Who doesn’t love being able to throw all their ingredients into a pot and let it do all the work? This appliance takes it one step further by allowing you to set your heat setting and timer. I love to put something in the crock pot when I come home for my lunch break. I simply set the timer and once it is done cooking it keeps it on warm until I get home for work. Nothing beats walking into your house after a long day, smelling the delicious aromas, and knowing your meal is ready to be eaten. This slow cooker cooks your food perfectly without drying anything out. During the cold winter months, our slow cooker gets used more than our cookware sets.

There you have it, My Top 5 Must Haves For Your Kitchen. I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing about each one. These brands are tried and true and if you choose to purchase them you will not be disappointed. As the cooking guru, Julia Childs famously said;

“Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”

As my interest in cooking continues to evolve, my slight obsession with all things kitchen continues to grow. This is great for evolving my skills, but maybe not so good for my bank account 😉

  1. I’ve had my eye on one of those LeCreuset Dutch ovens for a long time. Probably be a while before I can swing purchasing one. It’s great to read they’re worth the money. I’m also glad you shared the stainless steel cookware. One of these days is love to get a set. Great post. I enjoyed it.

Love how you learned to cook from your mom. My Little Bit and I do a lot of cooking together. He loves to cook!

    1. I LOVE my dutch oven. They are a bit of an investment, but you will not be disappointed. Keep an eye out for them at Home Goods, if you have one near by. Every so often they will carry them for a great price. That is where I found mine. I don’t think I could ever go back to my old pans after getting the all-clad set, they are wonderful! Macy’s is a good spot to look for these. They have a bunch of big sales throughout the year and these are usually included.

Thank you for the positive feedback, I’m glad you enjoyed reading it 🙂

      1. You’re welcome. I love your posts. We have a Home Goods store in the next town but I’ve never been to it. Or one ever! Didn’t know exactly what they were. Ha. Guess I better have a look! I saw some pans at Macey’s around Christmas and wondered if they were a decent brand. We have a mismatched set from hand-me-downs. Nothing matches, not even the lids. Maybe after we get moved and settled we can get a new set! That’d be fun!

      2. I’m glad you enjoy reading 🙂 You should definitely stop in Home Goods if you get the chance. Its a great place to find home items for great prices.

  2. Have you tried a Vitamix blender? I am interested in them because they are made in the USA (like All-Clad pans and KitchenAid mixers). But they are so expensive I want to be sure it is worth the HIGH pricetag!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Barbara. My parents have a Vitamix and I’ve used it a few times when visiting and it works great. I think it depends on what you are using your blender for. For me, I typically just use it for my morning green smoothies and my good ol’ KitchenAid works fantastic! The Vitamix’s are great if your trying puree or grind up food that may take a bit more muscle.
