Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This week I have taken time to reflect on what I’m thankful for. We always have so much to be thankful for, but this year we especially do. This has been a huge year for us filled with many life changing events. Ben and I are so thankful to both have great jobs that we love. This has allowed us to be able to buy our first home and provide for ourselves. I’m so thankful to have an amazing husband who is truly my best friend and partner in life. We were fortune to have an absolutely beautiful wedding this summer and were able to take our dream honeymoon to Ireland. I continue to be thankful for my family who is always there to support and encourage me through life’s hurdles.
We spent our first thanksgiving as “The Poseys” at my parents home in Naperville. Our newest tradition is to participate in the Turkey Trot 5k race first thing in the morning. This is the best way to start the holiday because it totally gives us the excuse to eat guilt free later in the day.
My mom does such a great job decorating the whole house for the holidays, and I hope someday that I can do the same with our home. I loved these pumpkins that she had on the kitchen table. The greenery is eucalyptus and magnolia leaves which is an added bonus because they smell SO good.
My mom is also an amazing hostess and always pulls out all the stops with decorating and the food. The table this year was absolutely gorgeous. The fall colors and the small details brought the table together and made it feel so festive.
The placemats ,chargers, and napkins paired perfectly with the thanksgiving decorated plates.
These pilgrims have been apart of our Thanksgiving decorations ever since I was a little girl and I love that my mom continues to use them as a center piece at the table.
How cute are these little wooden acorns?! I’m all about the small details and I love that my mom is to.
And of course, we can’t forget the star of the show. This turkey was picture perfect and tasted even better. My parents use the high heat method to bake our bird. Just rub it down with some olive oil, spices, and throw her in the oven for a few hours and you have this beauty!
It’s easy to get wrapped up in all the negative that is happening in our world, but it is important to stay focused on the positives. We wake up everyday to a roof over our head, healthy, and surrounded by people that we love and who love us.I sit here now with a full stomach and a happy heart. I have so much gratitude for how our lives have changed in the last year and I couldn’t be happier.
