Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

Newlywed life is in one word, blissful, and full of exciting adventures. My favorite adventure thus far has been the purchase of our first home. When we started looking at the market, we had no idea what to expect. I have always loved older houses with character and knew we wanted something that we could put our own stamp on and make ours. Though it was an exciting process, it was also stressful. Not only were we looking at buying a house, we were also about to get married in a few weeks and go on a two week honeymoon to Ireland. No pressure or anything (insert stressed out emoji here). In the rush of all the craziness we found a home that we thought was the one. Unfortunately, it did not end up working out. In the end, we were very thankful it didn’t because the next house we looked at had everything we wanted.

I took this picture of Ben the first time we went to look at the house. We knew we loved it right away and that it would be the perfect starter home for our new life together as, The Poseys. The house was cozy and small. Perfect for just the two of us. We liked that there were a handful of things that we would be able to change, but it was also livable enough that we could move in and be able to make the changes a little bit at a time. Luck was on our side this time because we put our offer in, and heard back the next day that it was ours. The next week we were off to Chicago to be married and then to Ireland for two weeks. When we arrived back to our town after our wedding adventures, we signed all the paperwork and were handed the keys to our first home.

One of my favorite parts of the whole house is the backyard. In our town, it is hard to find a house in our price range that offers so much privacy, so we really hit the jackpot with this one. We also love our morning visitors who stop by to say hello from time to time.

We are so excited to get settled and start making changes to this already great home. More importantly we can’t wait to build memories and traditions together within its walls. I’ve always been interested in blogging about my interests and hobbies and am super excited to use this platform as a way to document our journey through newlywed life and the transformation of our home.

  1. Hi Colleen! Saw on IG that you have a blog so I came to check it out. Having your own home is so fun. Being married is even better. 💕 I also find blogging enjoyable, and actually helpful so I can look back and see when things happened now with the kids. Glad to hear you’re enjoying married life and being homeowners!

    1. Thank you for taking time to look at my blog, Claire! You are too sweet. Being married is pretty great. I agree that blogging is a great place to write down all of the happenings in our life. It will be neat to have a place to go back and look at all our progress in a few years 🙂 I hope that you and your sweet family are doing well. ❤
